ACRON

During long-running research, debugging, or engineering sessions, raw search outputs, logs, and failed tool attempts quickly pollute an agent's context window. I built ACRON to decouple high-level conversation from low-level tool execution traces—keeping the primary assistant focused on essential intent and conclusions while archiving the full process for on-demand retrieval.

The noise bottleneck in long-horizon collaboration

Tool-heavy workflows generate massive intermediate artifacts. While valuable for auditing, keeping every raw log inside the active prompt degrades reasoning over time. My goal with ACRON is to let users focus purely on the problem at hand while the runtime manages the boundary between active working memory and complete historical archives.

Architecture: Decoupling conversation from execution

Instead of running heavy tool loops inside the main thread, ACRON's conversation layer delegates sub-tasks to isolated workers. Workers return concise, structured evidence packets to the main session while their full execution traces are archived separately for future lookup or reuse. The system includes persistent sessions, CLI and local browser interfaces, and inspectable personalization records tagged with confidence levels—built specifically for long-horizon, tool-intensive workflows rather than fully autonomous cross-session planning.

Benchmark results and engineering trade-offs

Across nine paired multi-step tasks, ACRON matched the baseline system's (Hermes) rubric quality while adding 76.6% fewer tokens to the main conversation—translating to a 4.28× theoretical capacity projection.

Trade-offs & limits:Context cleanliness comes at the cost of orchestration overhead. Total model calls increased from 40 to 53 across the benchmark suite. Consequently, simple one-shot queries run slower than direct prompting, and token savings diminish when follow-up turns require inspecting bulky raw artifacts. The project remains an evolving alpha.
